FileCloud Desktop for Windows Release 23.253.4

August 21, 2026

Server upgrade recommended for enhanced FileCloud Desktop for Windows performance and prevention of unnecessary file conflicts

A new feature called ETAG (unique file identifier) has been added to FileCloud Desktop for Windows to help prevent unnecessary file conflicts and improve the reliability of file syncing.

  • If you want to use this feature, upgrading the server to version 23.262.2 (available at the end of August) or later is mandatory.

  • If you don't need this feature right now, an upgrade isn't required. However, we recommend upgrading soon to improve overall performance and fix known issues with file conflicts.

Uninstall FileCloud Sync if it is installed on the same machine that you are installing or running FileCloud Desktop on; otherwise, FileCloud Desktop will not work properly

To apply these enhancements and fixes, please update FileCloud Desktop from Windows using the link at the Additional Downloads page on the FileCloud website.

Release enhancements:

  • When a file is locked or unlocked, a pop-up on the user interface now notifies users if the operation was successful or failed.

  • A pop-up now notifies a user who attempts to locally move, rename, or delete a file that is locked by another user why the action is not permitted.

  • FileCloud now supports automatic SSO authentication for users in ADFS environments through dynamic resolution of the users' Windows usernames. See Set up Automatic SSO Authentication for ADFS Windows Users.

  • When the app crashes, users are now prompted to access crash reports and logs. See Accessing Crash Reports in FileCloud Desktop for Windows.

Release bug fixes:

  • The Show conflicts option on the Dashboard icon did not filter on conflicts only. This has been fixed.

  • An issue causing failure on login has been fixed.

  • An issue causing FileCloud Desktop for Windows to return a location not found error when accessing a folder in Windows Explorer from the dashboard has been fixed.

  • An issue causing large file uploads to fail and FileCloud Desktop for Windows to restart the upload repeatedly has been fixed.

  • An issue causing some instances of FileCloud Desktop for Windows to disconnect has been fixed.

  • On startup, FileCloud Desktop for Windows failed to exit its processing loop. This has been fixed.

  • In some scenarios, FileCloud Desktop for Windows was not syncing with folders from FileCloud server. This has been fixed.

  • Downloading large folders or files using “always keep on this device” caused the application to fail. This has been fixed.

  • FileCloud Desktop for Windows was reporting a conflict even when there was no conflict and the file was uploaded correctly. This has been fixed.

  • In the application, when a user was prompted to enter a changed password and entered it incorrectly, instead of giving the allowed number of password retries, the session ended. This has been fixed.

  • AutoCAD was incorrectly creating conflict files. This has been fixed.

  • The time limit for listing files and folders was increased to five minutes to prevent operations from timing out when accessing large folders or large numbers of folders.

  • When the application was reopened after exit or restart, the error Session not found on server was displayed. This has been fixed.

  • When the screen for entering the MFA code was closed without any value being entered, a generic message appeared. Now the message Something went wrong during the login process. Please try again: Timeout while waiting for operation appears.
